Umm...yeah. Ebonyzer, a.k.a Flav, is a girl. Who knew? So now she has a rhinestone collar and her name is AGGIE!
She's a great dog. Just learning not to jump and learning to sit. She's also taking walks with us in which she gets dragged less and less every time. She's very patient with us!
Sorry GIRL!

R.E.M

My kids can never be accused of "early to bed, early to rise" champions. They've always been night owls. Recently however, we've started this little preschool in the neighborhood and they've had to go to bed earlier.
It's had some crazy reprocussions (sp?).
Today I told on Olivia. I really should have kept my big mouth shut. Now she's going to get a spanking. Worse than that we've both had to wait until Jason gets home for it to happen. So she's forgotten about it most of the day. But, we just got home from getting a very late dinner at the drive-thru (where I saw one of my old fifth-grade students who is now a JUNIOR!), and she remembered Daddy is going to spank her for not listening to me while I was the preschool teacher. So, when she asked I told her he did say he was going to spank her when he got home.
She got scared and kind of looked around. I said, "He's not home yet, just eat." She shoved another fry in her mouth and said, "I'm done." It was hilarious. Then we went to brush her teeth and usually they brush for a while and then come to me for a look-over and touch-up. Tonite she just handed it to me. She volunteered to say a quick prayer and rushed to her bed rather than wait for Isaac to climb up onto his. She is so funny. Honestly, we're both hoping Daddy forgets. Not likely.
My kids are so dang cute!

Karma
My pedicure looks better in pictures, hmmm. ANYWAY, looking for a card from the bridal fair from a photographer who took for one of my brides, I looked through my big storage bin and it wasn't there. Ever the organizer (he, he, he), I decided that today, SUNDAY, I'd better take the time to put it where it belongs. So, in my funky striped socks from my mom, I trotted down the stairs. Until I stopped.
I stopped when I missed AT LEAST the last step and landed, foot sideways on the basement floor.
Still
gives me chills. There was a nasty sound when I tried to move it to make sure it wasn't going to fall off. Though in the next couple hours I'd hoped it would.
I asked Jason for an epidural while he traded corn bags for ice packs. Lord I know he hopes I don't ever end up pregnant. I'm just like my dad in that respect, WUSS.
and a couple hours after the last shot, better than ever!
Can you spell C-A-N-K-L-E!?

Bridal Faire
I did the Bridal Faire at Utah State this past Saturday. It's always a crap shoot. I never know how much time and/or energy to put into it. This was a good one though, good quality brides, not just a bunch of idiots walking through taking the candy from our tables.
I said something bad about one of the other florists (it was ,however true)
, but check the next blog for how karma is a b.....

School Days!
Isaac & Liv started pre-school with some of our neighbors. Us moms teach every 5 weeks (2 days/week) and the kids can stay with kids they know and teachers/moms they know, and we get 4 hours of sweet, sweet freedom.
They are so adorable. Olivia keeps asking, "Mom, I bigger?" because I kept telling her that when she was bigger she got to go to school. Aren't they so cute you could eat them up?

At the Standifird's house for the first day, "All About Me." They got to bring 3 things that represent them. Isaac brought a spiderman, a car, and a drum. Olivia brought a barbie, a dress-up dress, and a princess book.
Georgia and I had a beautiful morning hanging out with the dog. She is so fun. Such a character!

September 11, 2001
It's already September 12, 2006, but I wanted to write down what I remember about September 11, five years ago.
I was in my first month of my first year of teaching. I always woke up and took a shower and hopped back in bed to put my make-up on and watch the Today Show. I was 24. It's hard to believe I was that old. Now it seems like I was such a baby.
Katie Couric broke the news that something was wrong with the World Trade Center. No one seemed to know exactly what was going on until the second plane hit. It made my guts twist. They showed a replay of it over and over again until...I don't even know when they stopped.
I moved like a zombie to finish getting ready. Everyone around me did the same thing. I think we didn't know what else we were supposed to do. We were all waiting on orders. From who?
I stopped at the Maverick on my way to school, because I did it every day. I got a drink and a sweet roll that I had no appetite for. Looking back though, my reaction was so juvenille. It was robotic and unbelieving and I had a strange sense of invincibility.
When I got to my room I turned on the television. I walked to the office to make copies and passed the princible in the sick room watching the tv with all sorts of children crowded behind him to see what was happening. I heard him exclaim, "It's going down. It's crashing down." I still had no sense of what was happening. It didn't even strike me that thousands of people were being dropped and buried. Huh?
I heard my name over the intercom, "Mrs. Dial, you have a phone call on line 1." I went to the work room and picked up the call. It was the father of the only student I had with a disability. He wanted to know what in the world I was thinking not giving spelling tests to the kids each week. It took me completely off guard. I honestly expected him to ask me how I planned to tell the kids what was happening. Especially since his son has Asberger's Syndrome. I stuttered a lame reply. Lame because I know exactly why and I know it was good teaching. He tore me a new one and I just let him. Huh?
So, I walked back into my classroom, where the students were watching the television I'd foolishly left on. I herded them to their seats and turned it off. I was a total wreck.
I stood in front of them and just looked. They wanted answers and they could tell I was a disaster. So, I lost it. Right in front of their meek little faces. I remember telling them that I wasn't scared because of the planes or the buildings, I was upset because of the reprimand (I didn't go into any detail). I think I honestly believed that at the time. Looking back, I think I was upset because in all this tragedy, all this chaos, all this uncertainty, we all just did what we do. Even I did. I don't know if that's wrong, but it's very strange. Waiting for orders. From who?

Dog Days

This cutie pie was out in front of the thrift store and I couldn't resist. So now we have another little boy. Isn't he cute?
I attempted to make a dog house for him and the wood went right back into the wood pile. Completely not worth the effort. I'll have to buy one.
He's so mellow! Isaac held him while we walked throught PetSmart and he slept on his lap. But, we put him down and he chased the kids around the yard.
We've been through:
Cooper
Homer
PowWow
Bob...
But I think he'll be Ebonyzer. A big name for a little guy.

"NO!, BEAN bug!"

Isaac, upon seeing the bug again, in his underwear
Isaac came in to the bathroom to brush his teeth and very casually started talking about a bee bug in his room. I thought about it and said, "No, Isaac, there's not a bee in your room." (He's been stung twice, so I thought he was still on the "every bug is a bee and will hurt you" kick. He kept repeating himself and I kept repeating myself.
"It told me, 'Get out!'"
"It told you to get out?"
"Yeah."
"A bee?"
Finally, he goes, "NO! A bug with a stomach like beans!" Then it ocurred to me that when I was putting away his laundry I had seen a praying mantis in his room. I had completely shrugged it off. (aside...Ask me now, after being a mother for over 4 years, why I didn't respond then? Ask me now, why, when a praying mantis is the nastiest, creepiest, eeeew, bug on the earth, why didn't I respond then?)
So, I played dumb and asked him to show me the bug. He started to get progressively nervous. He walked in and pointed and immediately began to back-pedal. He got icked out too. Jason came in and responded like it was such a cool bug. We told him how it looked like he was praying, so he was called a praying mantis. Total confusion and disbelief. Until he went to bed he asked us why the bug prayed. I told him it was because he was scared to be in such a crazy boy's bedroom and wanted our daddy to take him out again, (which he did).
When we put the girls to bed (before Isaac), he came in and said, "Mama, I sleep with Georgia, she won't get out of bed." He'd helped me get her to stay in her bed for her nap today. He wasn't being altruistic, he was being a wuss. That nasty bug shook him, and I don't blame him.
We did a bedroom sweep for bugs, but it wasn't good enough. Jason lectured him on being a man and facing his fears. He's upstairs in our bed as I write. ;)

"BAM BABY!"
"Fine, jus aget it."
"Mama, your butt's not too big."
"I have a too small one," or, "That's a big one, that's a too small one."
He told my mom a this story when he pointed to an alarmed door at a store...
"Gramma, we don't push that or edabody gets mad." My mom asked, "Did mama get mad?"
"No, edabody got mad."
LiV:
"Mama, you love daddy, you get meddied?"
"Mama, we don't kiss (meaning her and Isaac)?" Isaac responds, "YES, we kiss when we go ni-night."
"Boys don't do that, jus geerls do that."
GeOrgIa:
"Jus aget it."
"Wook!"
"oooh, petty."
"spthhh" (spider man sprays w/ lisp)
"I hab it."
"spthhh" (sh-ing baby dolls)
"Uh-Huh, Oh Yeah."
"Shake yo boody!"
She picks up a dish towel and says, "ress, ress" as she holds it over her front like a model.
She sings, "SunBEAN, SunBEAN!" (Jesus wants me for a Sunbeam song).
